Rationale and Goal
- To fulfill the vision and mission of Shinawatra University as a leading international university with an emphasis on research.
- To generate new knowledge necessary for the development of management capabilities of countries in the region.
- To provide high-quality research assistants to faculty members.
Curriculum
- Student must complete 60 credits – 12 taught course credits and 48 thesis credits.
- Student may request to have credits transferred from courses taken during the master degree program.
- A maximum of nine (9) credits can be accredited for Research Methodology and Selected Topic(s).
- Credits for Selected Topic(s) must be from a course related to the student’s research.
- Student may also enroll in the program by upgrading from a relevant master degree program without receiving the master degree if they have a paper accepted for publication in an international journal.
- Student may request to transfer coursework and thesis credits if the doctoral thesis is in the same area as the research performed during the master.
- A total of 60 credits is required for graduation.

Admission Requirements
- A post-graduate degree from an accredited university in technological areas including sciences, engineering, architecture or related fields;
- Good written and spoken English is expected. Supplementary English courses are provided; if needed.
- Good computer competency is also expected.
Graduation Requirements
A candidate for doctor of philosophy program in technologymust successfully complete 60 credits comprising 12 credits of taught courses and 48 credits of thesis.
- All required courses must have a “Satisfactory” grade.
- At least two research publications, one accepted by an international journal with impact factor and one in an approved national journal or equivalent, are required.
- Approval of a thesis demonstrating a substantial original contribution to knowledge by the thesis committee and an external examiner.
- Satisfying one of the following English proficiency requirements: TOEFL not less than 550 marks or equivalent. This requirement is waived for students who have already satisfied the English proficiency requirement in the Master’s degree program.
- Students with insufficient background may be required to take some basic courses and obtain satisfactory grades, as determined by the thesis committee.

Thesis Committee and External Examiner
The Thesis Committee consists of
- Two advisors comprising one principal advisor and one co-advisor, with at least one of the two being a faculty member of SIU.
- Two committee members with at least one member of SIU.
One external examiner approved by SIU Academic Review Committee (ARC)
